Made it to Portland!

60 mile ride today from Salem to Portland. Andrew broke a spoke this morning but all was good since we were still near a bike shop in town. A good mix of highway and farm roads got us to Amanda's house. Andrew hulahoops in her backyard to celebrate. Very happy to be here.

80 miles to Salem today!

Longest day of the trip and also the flattest. Great lunch break in Corvallis...home of the beavers.

Eugene...go Ducks!

Andrew broke a spoke this morning out of Florence and hitch hiked to Eugene. I met him there 50 miles later and his bike is as good as new. Going to enjoy the night in Eugene before heading up the Willamette Valley tomorrow. Yes, the woman who took the pic had us hold her dogs.

The Scenic Route

Hit a beautiful single lane road outside of Trinidad this manana. Amazing views but we both bought knee warmers because of the cold winds.

Climb the redwoods

We have left Humboldt Redwood State Park and are headed to Eureka and Arcata today. Should be a sweet ride and hopefully we will find a warm place to camp before the fog comes in. In this photo Andrew proves nothing is too steep to climb.

Go north young people!

After 7 days riding we finally met some others going north. While they are going at different paces, it's good to know we aren't the only crazy ones doing this. (There are hundreds of people heading south by the way)

Entering redwood country

Out of Fort Bragg and leaving the cold damp coast for sunny skies inland in Leggett, CA. Two big mountain climbs today were rewarded at the end by a drive through redwood...so worth the $3

Craggy Bluffs

Great ride this morning out of Manchester. Espresso shots in Elk helped us climb some steep roads. We rode through Mendocino (beautiful!) and camping just north of Fort Bragg tonight.

Skippin' stones on the Russian River

We found a warm river to camp on outside of Jenner. We've been in primitive camp grounds thus the lack of posts. Needless to say, the bike shorts are getting funky.

Skipping stones on the Russian River

Found a beautiful warm river to camp along. We've been at primitive camp grounds the past 2 nights thus the lack of posts. Stay tuned for some shots of the Mendocino coast today as we hit 200 miles!

BBQ oysters!

Windy day but did 40 miles before lunch. I think we deserve some BBQ oysters and fish and chips in Bodega Bay.

Andrew is a tree hugger

First day riding was beautiful through Sausalito, San Anselmo, Fairfax and other towns north of SF. Arrived to Samuel P. Taylor state park in plenty of time. No showers though...guess we'll be taking sink showers tonight.
